I'm not a todays rap fan but what you did was give me the feeling that I felt when I first heard Ice Cube and Jay Z. The story kept me engaged and I don't comment often on rappers. I personally think you have what they call the "X factor"Keep up the great work and you will def go far. ” - Amayah J

Imp The Great

Rapper / Producer / Filmmaker

In 1975 a twelve-year old Steven “Imp The Great” Laws ran away from New York to Baltimore. He knew his abusive father was going to beat his ass for receiving a bad report card.

About four years later on a Memorial Day weekend his brother who had been visiting from New York jumped on top of their grandfathers’ truck and started rapping. No one seem to know what he was doing but a crowd soon started to gather. After his brother finished rapping Steven asked him “What was that?” His brother replied “Rapping”. Before his brother went back to New York Steven had learned all of his rhymes. That was the beginning of what would be a life of rhyme for Steven a.k.a “Imp The Great”.

Over the next forty years Imp would write, produce, perform, battle, record, DJ, mentor up-in-coming rappers, and start his record label “By Any Means Music”. In 2013 he started a film company “From Rap To Film”. The company successfully released the documentary “Jean Powe Stevens Johnson Syndrome Survivor”, however Imp failed with his next two films “The Groupie” and “The Dup’s” and decided to take a break from filmmaking and get back to making music.

Imp is currently in the studio writing, producing and recording his upcoming album entitled “M.A.T.H” ME AGAINST THESE HOES. The album is scheduled to be released in April 2020 and will include quite a few visual surprises.
